Robert Sestok, Cass Corridor Artist from the ’60s, had a great 2011. Two new sculptures by Sestok were installed in the Detroit area this fall. Palisades, made of curved stainless steel forms flowing up the side of a brick building, is located at the corner of Pierce and Brown in Birmingham, a suburb of Detroit. Sunbeam, a smaller bronze sculpture funded by the Erb Foundation, rests in front of the Hannan House in Detroit. Wayne Sate University lent their Sestok sculpture, Free Form 5, for display just east of the General Motors building on the Detroit Riverfront. Currently Robert’s sculpture, Destiny, is at the Detroit Institute of Arts in a show called A Gift of a Lifetime: The James Duffy Collection until March 18, 2012.
